Nutrients
for sexual problems:
Certain foods may also be useful in improving certain symptoms
of sexual dysfunction such as premature ejaculation and impotence:
Premature ejaculation Recent studies have
shown that the higher the blood histamine level, the quicker
the ejaculation.Calcium and the amino acid Methionine
lower blood histamine and may therefore be helpful.
Impotence - Impotence in men has often been linked with
deficiencies in trace minerals such as Magnesium, or in
particular, Zinc. Zinc is vitally important to the male
reproductive system; it is required for production of testosterone
and proper functioning of the prostate gland
In addition, men who have difficulty
achieving or maintaining an erection may want to eat foods that
are rich in L-arginine.This amino acid, found in protein
foods such as chicken, beef and turkey, contributes to the production
of nitric oxide, which controls blood flow for penile erection.
However, a note of caution: foods that contain high levels of
L-arginine are NOT recommended for anyone who has the herpes
virus, as these foods have been shown to hasten an outbreak of
herpes.
Foods to avoid:
Needless to say, there are also some nutrients that are counterproductive
to a good love life, such as excessive alcohol and caffeine,
which constrict blood vessels and impair circulation vital for
sexual functioning. And other factors, such as nicotine from
cigarette smoking and the use of certain medications may also
impede sexual performance.
As far as your diet, stay away from sugar, food additives, preservatives
and processed food. This means no chocolate, soft drinks, candy,
coffee, frozen dinners, NutraSweet, dougnuts, pastries, and generally
anything that you know isnt good for you! |
